Brian R. Mitchell

Brian R. Mitchell was appointed to the Board of Directors of CBC/Radio-Canada for a five-year term, effective April 21, 2008. On March 12, 2013, he was reappointed for a second five-year term. In addition, he serves as a trustee on the CBC Pension Board of Trustees.
Mr. Mitchell is a corporate commercial lawyer and serves as the managing partner of Mitchell Gattuso, a boutique Montréal law firm with an extensive corporate practice. He previously worked as a junior associate for the Montréal law firm, Ahern Lalonde Nuss Drymer.
Mr. Mitchell currently sits on the board of directors of several public and private corporations. He also sits on several non-profit boards of directors in Montréal (Québec). Since 2010, he has been the Chair of the Steering Committee for the 21st Century Catholic Community Campaign. In addition, since 2006, he has served on the board of directors and as President (2008–2010) of the Foundation of Catholic Community Services. Since 2004, he has sat on the board of directors of Saint Michael’s Mission as well as currently on the board of directors of the McGill Chamber Orchestra (2008–present).
Mr. Mitchell graduated from St. Andrews College, Aurora. He holds a Bachelor of Arts (cum laude) degree in History and Literature from Harvard University. He subsequently attended the Faculty of Law at McGill University, where he was awarded the 125th Anniversary Entrance Scholarship, and in 1985 graduated from the National Program with a Bachelor of Common Law and a Bachelor of Civil Law degrees.
He is a member of the Barreau du Québec since 1987.
