We’re mindful of your well-being. That’s why we offer different benefits and ways to help ensure peace of mind and create a supportive workplace where you can do your best work.
Because the health and financial security of our employees is of utmost importance, we offer a comprehensive and competitive benefits package that includes medical, dental and vision coverage for employees and their eligible dependents. Life and accident insurance, along with Short-Term and Long-Term Disability, are also provided.
Under our health care plan, prescription drugs are eligible for up to 100% coverage, less a modest deductible, and pick-up is hassle-free thanks to a pay-direct drug card that employees and eligible dependents can use when the need arises.
For added convenience, our plan provider also gives members an option to submit, track and view health and dental claims online, or use the plan provider’s mobile app, and get their reimbursements back quickly through direct deposits. What’s more, our plan provider’s website offers a one-stop shop Health & Wellness site that provides a wealth of information on topics that may be of interest to employees and their family.
When you start a new job, it’s all about the now. You know you should be saving for your future, but it’s hard to find the extra cash! But before you know it, you’re 50, and you wish you had paid more attention to saving.
Less than 40% of Canadian employees have a pension plan through work. We are proud to offer our CBC/Radio-Canada employees a defined benefit plan – one that pays you a regular monthly pension. It’s something you can count on! Not sure you will stay with CBC/Radio-Canada until retirement? You can choose to take the pension you’ve earned with you.
So what’s the plan worth? CBC/Radio-Canada puts in money for you each year – on top of the pay cheque you already receive. The closer you get to retirement, the more money CBC/Radio-Canada will put in. For a 30-year-old, it’s about 5% of your pay. For a 40-year-old, the number jumps to around 10% – and it keeps getting better with age!
As a permanent employee, you join the pension plan the month after you start with CBC/Radio-Canada – meaning you can take advantage of this extra money right away.
Life can have its challenges at times, whether it’s on the job or at home. CBC/Radio-Canada has a dynamic Employee Assistance Program for this reason and the services offered are available to the employee, eligible partner and dependants.
The EAP’s mandate is to promote health and wellness - everything from psychological counselling, to dealing with stress, to nutrition, and career transition counselling. The program also offers an online health risk assessment and resources to help manage stress through initiatives like the mindful meditation program. It’s all being offered to help support the physical and psychological well-being of employees.
The program is jointly sponsored by unions and management and is supported by close to 200 employees who act as volunteer-ambassadors locally to promote the resources and organize workplace wellness initiatives. Because your life, your work and your well-being matters!
At CBC/Radio-Canada, we take the engagement of our employees seriously and aspire to be an engaged workplace. We’re working on this continually, tracking our progress in many ways, including through a recurring employee engagement survey. This means that as an employee, you’ll have at least an annual opportunity to provide feedback on what you need to be as engaged as you can be in your work.
It’s thanks to some of these efforts that we’ve received consistent recognition and awards for the value and integrity of our brand, as viewed by Canadians. And management continues to work jointly and proactively with our unions to ensure a better working environment for all.
