New spring shows and FIFA World Cup on ICI Radio-Canada Télé

March 24, 2014, Montreal

In addition to sporting the colours of the Brazil 2014 FIFA World Cup for one month, the ICI Radio-Canada Télé spring/summer 2014 schedule will deliver a wide range of compelling programming when it gets under way on April 8.

PÉNÉLOPE MCQUADE leads off the spring season on Tuesday, April 8 at 9 p.m., before taking its regular slot on Monday to Thursday nights. Viewers will enjoy reconnecting with their favourite shows this time of year, including DANS L’ŒIL DU DRAGON as of April 21 and LES CHEFS! - LA REVANCHE starting July 7. LA PETITE SÉDUCTION, ANIMO, CAP SUR L’ÉTÉ, PAQUET VOLEUR EXPRESS, DES SQUELETTES DANS LE PLACARD and the ever-popular GALA LES OLIVIER are back as well.

Two captivating new series will also be on offer. The Ottawa-produced romantic comedy TOI ET MOI will follow the adventures of a couple who refuse to let their age gap, background (she’s Franco-Ontarian, he’s Québécois) and entertaining circle of friends put a damper on their beautiful love affair. Premiering May 8 in the Thursday 7:30 p.m. slot, the show stars Anick Lemay and Jean-Philippe Perras, with Emmanuel Bilodeau, Pierrette Robitaille and Marie-Hélène Thibault rounding out the cast. Then, each week on VIENS-TU FAIRE UN TOUR?, host Michel Barrette will invite two well-known guests into one of his vintage cars to take a trip down memory lane. The show premieres on Sunday, May 25 at 8 p.m.

Starting April 8, VENGEANCE fans will finally be able to catch Season 2 of this classy prime-time soap. And those who love British detective series will also get their fill: SHERLOCK returns with three new episodes on May 2, 9 and 16, while the first three seasons of LUTHER, starring Idris Elba as a brilliant yet tormented investigator, will air in succession between May 3 and August 2. Finally, from May 23 to June 6, to mark the 70th anniversary of the Normandy invasion, the miniseries GÉNÉRATION GUERRE follows the destinies of five young German friends from 1941 until the end of World War II.

News and current affairs remain front and centre with a new season of the remarkable series TOUT LE MONDE EN PARLAIT, and a fresh selection of first-run Canadian documentaries on ZONE DOC. L’ÉPICERIE gets into the spring spirit, while from April 27 to May 18, DÉCOUVERTE will present LE CANADA GRANDEUR NATURE, a CBC/Radio-Canada co-production that shows off our country’s ecosystems like never before, using the same technology that made the famed BBC series Planet Earth so spectacular. From April to May 17, ICI Radio-Canada Télé will also air the series LES PERSÉVÉRANTS currently running on ICI RDI.

From June 12 to July 13, ICI Radio-Canada Télé will be the official broadcaster of the BRAZIL 2014 FIFA WORLD CUP, carrying 46 of the 64 games live, including the playoffs and final. Tennis buffs will also want to tune in August 8–10 for 18 hours of coverage of the deciding ROGERS CUP games.

Lastly, ICI Radio-Canada Télé continues to air a line-up especially for kids on weekdays from 5:30 to 8:30 a.m., Saturdays from 5:30 to 11:30 a.m., and Sundays from 5:30 a.m. to 10 a.m.
