Spotlight on CBC/Radio-Canada's 2015-2016 season

Thursday, June 4, 2015 – Today Jean Mongeau, General Manager and Chief Revenue Officer for CBC & Radio-Canada Media Solutions; Louis Lalande, Executive Vice-President, CBC/Radio-Canada French Services; and Reneault Poliquin, Executive Director, Multiplatform Media Sales, Montreal and Eastern Canada, presented programming highlights for 2015–16 on the public broadcaster’s various platforms.


For the 2015–16 season, ICI Radio-Canada Télé will be unveiling a host of popular favourites and entertaining new programs. MARINA ORSINI starts the day with an engaging morning show recorded before a studio audience, focused on a wide range of topics. In the afternoon, a growing fan base can once again catch André Robitaille and his team on the daily 90-minute program ENTRÉE PRINCIPALE. Patrice L’Ecuyer will be hosting SILENCE, ON JOUE!, a new variety game show in which celebs team up with contestants.

In the evening, audiences can tune in to UN CHEF À L’OREILLE, a competition among amateur chefs guided by well-known pros, hosted by Ricardo Larrivée. Pierre Lapointe and Claudine Prévost invite singers of all types and ages to share their thoughts and perform live on STÉRÉO POP. Jean-Philippe Wauthier invites celebs to partner up and strut their stuff in LES DIEUX DE LA DANSE, and in QUI-ÊTES VOUS?, audiences follow four stars in their quest to discover their roots. New additions to popular drama series include RUPTURES, starring Mélissa Désormeaux-Poulin, who plays a family lawyer involved in emotionally charged cases; LES PAYS D’EN-HAUT, a remake of the epic series depicting the early settlement of the Laurentians through the saga of Séraphin and Donalda; and LECLAN, an Acadie-Quebec co-production starring Sébastien Ricard in the role of a reformed criminal who starts a new life with a new identity, but who risks losing everything when his former partners in crime come to settle accounts. In 30 VIES, audiences meet a new teacher played by Denis Bouchard. All news and current affairs programs will be back, and journalists Marie-Maude Denis and Isabelle Richer will be co-hosting the prestigious magazine program ENQUÊTE.


ICI RDI programming, featuring live news reporting 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, will remain essentially unchanged, with one important addition: a news program focused on the latest developments of the day, hosted by Patrice Roy, to air Monday to Friday, at 5 p.m. LE CLUB DES EX will be back with a new celeb joining Rémy Trudel and Yolande James.


This season, ICI ARTV features the return of PAPARAGILLES and its three famous culture vultures, MC Gilles, Kat Levac and Fabien Cloutier, along with the 9th season of C’EST JUSTE DE LA TV, and LA SOIRÉE EST ENCORE JEUNE, now in TV format. The popular LIRE and LES GRANDES ENTREVUES, along with the new ROCK LA VIE, look at arts and entertainment from all angles. Also new in this season’s lineup is the arts and entertainment magazine, ESPRIT CRITIQUE, with Rebecca Makonnen and Marc Cassivi, which will also air on ICI Radio-Canada Télé.


Four new original programs will be aired on ICI EXPLORA: ALEXANDRE ET LES CONQUÉRANTS, a documentary series featuring well-known businessman Alexandre Taillefer; ON S’AIME EN CHIEN, hosted by renowned dog trainer Jean Lessard; and SEXPLORA and MONSIEUR HOMME. Returning shows include LE MONDE DE DEMAIN and PLANÈTE TECHNO, in which host Jean-Michel Vanasse welcomes a new collaborator, Denis Talbot. ICI Explora will also continue to broadcast its trademark spectacular documentaries.


ICI is an entertainment Web television platform offering video on demand to all Canadians. The platform is continually evolving to improve the viewer experience. It offers free catch-up programming and repeat broadcasts of ICI Radio-Canada Télé programs, and is also a place to discover all-new content and exclusive original series like QUART DE VIE 1 and 2, and 7$ PAR JOUR.

The premium entertainment EXTRA service on ICI, offered for free to Rogers and Telus customers and for a modest monthly fee to all other Internet users, features additional video content, including foreign French-language films and series such as DISPARITION and RECTIFY, complete Quebec series such as LES BOUGONS, UNITÉ 9, 19-2 and FORTIER, and a wide variety of quality HD French-language content.

New this season is the premiere of LE NOUVEAU SHOW, starring the team of young comedians in SNL Québec who have put together a host of hilarious original sketches. The series will later be broadcast on ICI ARTV and ICI Radio-Canada Télé.


Earlier this year, Louis Lalande announced that ICI ARTV and ICI Explora would be brought under ICI Radio-Canada Télé management. In addition, ICI, web series and the Télé section on ICI are now managed by the Executive Director of ICI Radio-Canada Télé, Dominique Chaloult. As the programming lineup for the upcoming season shows, this integration allows Radio-Canada to offer quality content, on the most relevant platform, at the appropriate time. This shared vision allows us to optimize our programming, to the benefit of audiences nationwide. It also helps us to better showcase our offerings in the media industry, across all of our platforms.


Chanson, jazz, classical, world music . . . ICI Musique features all genres, with a focus on local talent. The channel offers the ultimate easy listening experience on the radio, online (ICI Musique) and on mobile devices.

All day, every day of the week, ICI Musique accompanies listeners in their daily routine. CIRCUIT MAKONNEN, VI@FEHMIU and PLAISIRS THERRIEN are just a few of the programs listeners can tune in to on the radio or online.


New must-see CBC Television programs include THIS LIFE, a faithful adaptation of the hit series Nouvelle adresse. YOUNG DRUNK PUNK, a comedy by Bruce McCullough, follows a group of Calgary kids in the 1980s who are determined to fight against conformity. RAISED BY WOLVES is a drama series on the life of six socially isolated brothers and sisters who are home-schooled by their mother. THE ROMEO SECTION is an espionage drama set in Vancouver that relates the adventures of a university professor/spy master who trains young recruits, one of whom is particularly gifted. JEKYLL & HYDE is a new series inspired by the classic science fiction novel. In HELLO GOODBYE, passengers in transit at Toronto Pearson International Airport share their stories with Dale Curd. KEEPING CANADA ALIVE is a six-part series profiling Canada’s health care system through footage shot by 60 camera crews over a 24-hour period in hospitals and clinics across the country. EXHIBITIONISTS is a visually compelling 30-minute weekly series featuring artists and their sources of inspiration. In CRASH GALLERY, four visual artists compete against each other in a real-time creative arena, while INTERRUPT THIS PROGRAM documents the cultural life of cities that have seen war and unrest.
