To submit a general application profile:

Click on the Submit/Update Your Profile link directly below the job list.

In time, you may wish to update your candidate profile or update a job application. Please note that any changes to your general candidate profile will be reflected in your future job applications, but will not be reflected in PRIOR job applications.

To apply for a specific posting:

If you find a position that you’re interesting in applying for, click on the 'Apply Online' button to apply for this position. You will need to Sign In as either a new user or returning user. Your email address and password allow you to access your profile in the database at any time. To apply for a posted job you will need to provide your personal contact information (name, address, phone number, etc) as well as a copy of your resume and cover letter, in plain text format. Finally, you will be asked to answer some job-related questions relating to the posting and your career interests.

To update a specific job application:

As long as the position is still posted online, you have the option of making changes to your application. Click on the position name, click on the Apply Online button, and sign in as a returning user. Any changes that you make will automatically be saved.

To update a General application:

If you have submitted a general application, then you can update your information at any time. Simply log in as a returning user, click on "Submit/Update your Profile" link and update your application accordingly.

2. I have submitted my application. What happens next?

You will receive an automated email notice confirming the receipt of your application. Your application will remain on file in our database and will be considered for the specific position for which you have applied. Also, in the future, a CBC/Radio-Canada recruiter may find that your profile matches the requirements of a different posting. In this case, you will receive correspondence notifying you of the match and you will be invited to apply for the position.

3. I have missed the deadline for a position. Can I still apply?

We are unable to accept applications after the position has been unposted.

4. How can I have my candidate profile deleted from your system?

To delete your profile please send your request to our system administrator at (HRRecruit_admin@cbc.ca) with your request.

5. How do I know that a question is required?

The required questions are identified by an asterisk (*).

6. None of the choices offered for a question correspond to my answer? What should I do?

To ensure that CBC/Radio-Canada receives your completed application, please provide an answer. Indicate your choice of answer in your cover letter.

7. Do you have a fax number where I could send my resume?

No. Our job application system is built online. Completing the online application is an effective way to get your information and resume to the right people within CBC/Radio-Canada.

8. How long does it take to hear from someone at the CBC/Radio-Canada if I have been granted an interview for a position?

Please note that ONLY qualified candidates will be contacted for an interview, typically within 2-4 weeks of unposting date.

We thank you for your interest, but CBC/Radio-Canada currently does not have a formal Volunteer program in place.

Technical Questions

1. Your online application system requires my resume to be in plain text format. What does this mean?

In most word-processing programs you can save documents as plain text, which means that there is no formatting such as bullets, bold text, and tabs within the document. Since formatting differs quite a bit between the various word-processing programs, CBC/Radio-Canada's online job board requires that only the text version of your resume/cover letter be entered. This enables the document to be saved in a readable fashion within our database. You can also attach a file, but the file should be a generic cover letter and resume. This attached file is permanently attached to your personal profile.

2. Your online application system keeps hanging when trying to save certain pages of information.

This issue relates to the connection between your PC and the database server. At certain times of the day and/or days of the week, the Internet does become busier and there is increased traffic. This does tend to slow things down and may also result in your PC becoming hung (that is, it freezes). Your connection to the Internet may also cause things to slow down, for example a phone line will be slower than a cable modem or high-speed connection.

Note that your information is automatically saved each time you go to the next page. If you find your PC is having difficulties, you may want to log out and come back at a later time. If you exit before completing the process, the information provided up to that point would be saved. You can return at any time to complete it.

3. Can I attach files?

You can attach up to 5 files, each up to 512kb in size. Pictures, graphics, and scanned pages in resumes or audio files sometimes exceed this size restriction. Please make sure your attachments do not exceed 512kb per attachment.

4. The system tells me that my text is too large and therefore cannot be saved. What should I do?

Please note that leading and trailing spaces are counted as characters. Also, spaces between characters and words count as characters. If you receive this message, you must remove parts of your text to accommodate the system.

5. I did not receive a confirmation of my application. Why?

CBC/Radio-Canada will only send one acknowledgement for each position that you apply to. If you have updated your application, you will not receive a second acknowledgement confirming your update. Our system is configured to send out confirmations during certain times of the day. If you do not receive a confirmation the same day, then you will receive a confirmation on the second day.

6. The security code that I received is invalid. What should I do?

The security code may have expired or could have been invalidated by your email software settings. First, open the web page attached to the message you received and try again by clicking on the link provided. If this fails, request a new security code by going to the application or profile login page, enter your email address or user name and click on Forgot Password?. You will receive a new security code.

7. The link in the email is not working. What should I do?

Open the attachment sent with the email and try again.

8. I did not complete a job application or general application, but I still received an acknowledgement. Why?

CBC/Radio-Canada has decided to acknowledge your application when you have reached or completed a specific page of the online application. You can still add information to your application if the job is still posted, but you will not receive another acknowledgement. If you have submitted a general application, then you can update your information at any time. Simply log in as a returning user, click on Submit/Update your Profile link and update your application.

9. I have asked to get a copy of my application via email. Some sections on that email state that the information was not provided but I never saw those sections in the application process. What should I do?

The CBC/Radio-Canada application process includes many ections that our hiring managers can choose from. Not all are required for all jobs. However the emails sent to candidates include all possible sections whether or not they are used.

10. I forgot my password or want to change it. What should I do?

To change your password, log on to www.cbc.radio-canada.ca/jobs and enter your email address in the appropriate field and then click Forgot your Password?  You will receive a Change Password email.

11. I did not get the email to change my password. What should I do?

Please verify the following details:

  1. You must have a filter that prevents you from getting emails from people outside of a certain list of contacts
Solution: Modify your list of contacts

  2. You may have a filter that classifies the emails that you receive.
Solution: Please verify all your folders.

  3. Your email service may block emails with HTML attachments.
Solution: Please change your email provider.

12. I have received several Forgot Password emails. What should I do?

Please use the last email you have received to change your password.

13. The security code in the email I received is invalid. What should I do?

It may be that you already changed your password or received another Change Password email. Please note that this email is only good once to access the application process and that you must use the last email you have received.

Visit www.cbc.radio-canada.ca/jobs and follow the links to the Career Section. Once you are there, you can try and change your password again.

If you are having technical difficulties or are unable to enter the system, please send an email to itsc@cbc.ca

14. I am unable to select multiple answers to a question. What should I do?

The recruiter may have improperly formatted the question. Select one item from the list and add a comment to your cover letter explaining the situation.
